Reptiles can make excellent pets. Some readily available reptiles are good for beginning pet lovers. Leopard geckos are considered by many to be the ideal lizards for beginners since they are relatively small and easy to care for. Eastern box turtles live in varied climates, so they are quite adaptable and are omnivores, so they eat both plants and insects. The blue-tongue skink is probably the most popular of the "larger" lizards to keep at home.
